New Everton contract for Romelu Lukaku 'possible' - Ronald Koeman

Romelu Lukaku came off the bench to help his side to victory at West Brom
Romelu Lukaku could sign a new contract at Everton after confirming the striker wants to stay at the club for at least one more season.
Manager Ronald Koeman revealed the Belgium striker came to see him ahead of Saturday's 2-1 victory at West Brom and withdrew his transfer request.
Koeman introduced Lukaku as a 38th-minute tactical substitution after his side fell 1-0 down at the Hawthorns and the player helped change the game in the Toffees' favour.
And Koeman said: "He spoke to me yesterday morning that he has made the decision himself to stay one more season at Everton, and that's great news.
"A new contract is possible. I don't doubt his qualities. He was out for 10 days with an injury but I'm not so stupid as to put him on the bench next week. That's no question.
"It was a tactical change. We started with three at the back, like we did against Tottenham. If you go 1-0 down and they drop more back then you really need a target man, and to make the pitch wider with wingers.
"We were then the dominant team and 1-1 before half-time had a big impact on the final result."

West Ham Transfer News: Bacca talks continue, Everton's Lukaku too pricey, Vermaelen edge

West Ham will reportedly continue talks with Colombia star Carlos Bacca today.
Following AC Milan's acceptance of a £26million bid, the Hammers began negotiations yesterday with Bacca's representatives over personal terms.
The 29-year-old is said to have made it clear he wants to join West Ham and co-chairman David Sullivan is working on a compromise package to secure Bacca's arrival.
And according to website The West Ham Way, there is a hope the deal could be concluded this week.
Bacca is said to be holding out for the best offer he can get at West Ham, apparently aware the club offered to pay Carlos Tevez wages of £150,000 a week to return to east London.

West Ham are reportedly among several Premier League sides to have enquired over Everton's Romelu Lukaku.
The Hammers search for a top striker has seen them miss out on the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Michy Batshuayi.
And Lukaku is also said to have been on their radar, but Everton's £65m valuation has put West Ham and others off, according to the Daily Mail.
Chelsea and Crystal Palace also believe the fee is too much for the 23-year-old, with Slaven Bilic's side having cooled any interest.
Lukaku has made little secret of his desire to join a Champions League club, but Ronald Koeman is determined to keep hold of his key hitman.
Barcelona centre-half Thomas Vermaelen is reportedly interested in a move to West Ham so that he can return to London with his family.
The incentive of settling back in England's capital having previously lived there while at Arsenal gives the Hammers an advantage in trying to sign him.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the prospect of joining West Ham with a London comeback and his desired wages being affordable is appealing.
Roma and Besiktas have both shown interest, but Vermaelen's preference is the Premier League.
West Ham are yet to make a concrete move for the Belgium star, who won't begin pre-season with Barca on Tuesday, but Luis Enrique's side want £8.3m to let Vermaelen go this summer.

Report: Everton tell Ronald Koeman he may have to sell Romelu Lukaku

Everton are determined to keep most their key players at Goodison Park this summer.
Southampton manager Ronald Koeman
According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Everton have told Ronald Koeman that he may have to sell Romelu Lukaku.
Everton have promised Koeman that he will not be under pressure to sell any of their key players, when he moves to Goodison Park.
The Toffees' promise to attempt to ensure that their big stars remain is one of the assurances that is thought to have tempted Koeman away from Southampton.
Everton's Romelu Lukaku
The Dutchman has had to deal with many of his high profile players leaving St. Mary’s since taking charge.
Koeman is now expected to be announced as the next Everton boss within the next few days, and the Toffees are optimistic at keeping hold of the likes of John Stones and Ross Barkley.
England's John Stones
Everton are likely to have to fend off interest in the England internationals, but they are determined to block any bids.
The Toffees are more worried about Lukaku’s future, though, as the Belgian appears to have his eyes set on a transfer.
Lukaku has made a number of comments to the media suggesting that he wants to leave Everton, and although the Merseyside club intend to try and convince that he should stay, they have warned Koeman that the striker could depart this summer.

Romelu Lukaku reveals sizeable ambition in stunning new Nike film ahead of Euro 2016

He's so convincing he's even got us believing it.

It's fair to say Nike certainly know how to make a decent film. We can't wait for their Euro 2016 ad...
However, we've been blessed. Build up has started early with a new film they've released starring Everton and Belguim forward, Romelu Lukaku . And it's a blinder.
The film focuses on the big man from Antwerp releasing his 'inner strength'.
Working out in a gym, with motivational talk, Lukaku says he wants to win the Euros and be at his "top level".
But that's not the sizeable ambition we were referring to. Oh no.
Top Gurn
Towards the end of the video Lukaku says he's READY TO TAKE OVER THE GAME...
Woah, woah, woah... slow down. What did he say?
The Everton forward said: "I’m at the level where I should be in my career. This year I played 46 games, scored 25 goals, there you go. I’m ready to take over the game."
So, he does have a right foot...
You're good Lukaku, very good in fact, but you may have some way to go till global domination. Double that goal tally and we're talking.
Can he achieve it?
Judging by the serious tone in his voice, he certainly thinks he can, in fact, he's so motivational he's even got us believing he can.

De Gea named United's player of the year

David de Gea has become the first Manchester United player to pick up three-straight player of the year awards.

Manchester United's David de Gea has won his third-straight club player of the year prize after picking up the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award.
The Spaniard is the first player to have won the award three years in a row and joins Cristiano Ronaldo as the only other with three crowns.
De Gea has been in incredible form for United once again this season, making a number of crucial saves to help the club remain in a position to challenge for the top four, keeping 14 clean sheets in 31 Premier League appearances.
The former Atletico Madrid man's future at the club remains under a cloud, after he came within minutes of joining Real Madrid during the off-season.
United held onto their man and although manager Louis van Gaal kept the Spaniard on the bench to start the season, De Gea soon reclaimed his spot as number one.
And De Gea was gracious in accepting the award.
"It is difficult for me to say anything; winning this trophy three years in a row is amazing," he said.
"I am really happy, it's an honour to receive this and I want to thank the fans, who are the best in the world.
"It is amazing to win this award three times in a row. I want to thank everyone one and we will keep fighting.
"I think everyone in the dressing room is important and now we have something important to win at Wembley. If we win the FA Cup, then it will be a good season."
De Gea helped United to the Wembley final against Crystal Palace with a huge penalty save from Romelu Lukaku during the 2-1 win over Everton.
The Spain international said he and his team-mates were fully focused on bringing home some silverware.
"My team-mates took 10 penalties at me in training and I didn't save one. But I saved the important one and then, thanks to Anthony [Martial]'s goal, we are in the final. I am really happy for that," De Gea said.
"It is really important for us, for the club. It has a lot of history and, for sure, we will do everything to win this."
United teen sensation Marcus Rashford was named under-18 player of the year, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson won the reserves player of the year while Chris Smalling won the players' player of the year.
Martial's solo goal against Liverpool at Old Trafford won goal of the season.

Everton stars warned about over-confidence by Romelu Lukaku ahead of FA Cup clash with Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku
ROMELU LUKAKU has warned Everton to beware a resurgent Chelsea this weekend.
The two sides meet in the FA Cup quarter finals at Goodison Park, just days after the Blues were dumped out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.
Everton and Chelsea have already met twice in the Premier League this season, with the Toffees taking four points from the floundering champions.
A hat-trick from Steven Naismith saw Everton storm to a 3-1 home win back in September, while it took a 98th minute offside goal from John Terry to grab Chelsea a point in January’s 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Everton are yet to play since throwing away a two-goal lead against West Ham last weekend, and Lukaku has warned that they will need to be at their best to overcome a Chelsea side fighting for their only chance at silverware under Guus Hiddink.
He told Everton TV: “I think the Chelsea team from that moment [in September] is not the same Chelsea team as now.
“The players in the team are back scoring again. Diego Costa is scoring, Hazard is gaining momentum so it’s going to be a totally different game.
“In football, you should never compare one game to another. We will have to be better than them and sharper than them to win the game.
“It’s nice to play against a good side. For a player you want to play against those big teams.
“To me it doesn’t matter when, I just want to play against the big teams all the time.”
22-year-old Lukaku was sold by Chelsea to Everton for £28million in 2014 following a successful loan spell.

The Belgium international has helped himself to 59 goals in 116 appearances, and SunSport exclusively revealed this week that the Blues are looking to re-sign him this summer.
Manchester United are also interested, and former Red Devils star Louis Saha believes Lukaku would thrive at Old Trafford.
He explained: “I have to admit that I rated Lukaku highly when he was at Chelsea, when he was young. I could see he was not ready, but now he has performed really well at Everton.
“And definitely he will bring something to the United side because he is strong, he has got that presence to trouble the central defenders.

Andrei Kanchelskis comments on having record broken by Romelu Lukaku, sets Belgian new target

Andrei Kanchelskis wants Romelu Lukaku to hit 20 or more Premier League goals for Everton this season.
Romelu Lukaku celebrates his goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Everton and West Ham United at Goodison Park on March 05, 2016 in Liverpool, England.
Former Everton star Andrei Kanchelskis has told bwin.com that he is pleased to see striker Romelu Lukaku break his goal record for the Toffees.
Kanchelskis, now 47, joined Everton from Manchester United back in 1995, and hit a superb 16 goals in his first season with the club, but he was sold on to Fiorentina in January 1997.
The Ukrainian-Russian had long held the record, alongside striker Tony Cottee, for scoring the most goals for Everton in a Premier League campaign with 16.
However, that record was recently broken by striker Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian international has now hit 18 goals this season, and with ten games left this season, he has the chance to go far past 20 goals, and set a huge new record for the club.
Kanchelskis' joint-record stood for almost 20 years, and now he has commented on the fact that Lukaku has now surpassed his goal tally.
The former playmaker has told bwin.com that he is 'very pleased' to see Lukaku score so many goals, and believes Everton fans deserve to see such an impressive striker.
Kanchelskis also believes that Lukaku can go over 20 goals this season, before joking that his record remains more impressive because he was a midfielder, whilst Lukaku is a centre forward.
"Nobody likes to see their own record broken, but that’s what they’re there or and every season the standard of football rises, so you have to expect it," Kanchelskis. "I’m very pleased for Romelu, he’s a fantastic player and Everton deserve a great goal scorer like him."
"He has the ability to hit over 20 goals a season, so that should be his target this term and next. Finally, I’d like to point out that Lukaku is an out-and-out striker, so I’m still the top scoring midfielder! I loved my time at Everton. There was a really great atmosphere around the club and the fans were great with me, even though I came from Manchester!" he added.
